Plan to fly from the cold frozen tundra of Omaha on March 10, 2011 and land in the beautiful tropical destination of Belize, where the average high temperature in March is 83 and the average low temperature is 72 (we can live with that). This will be a trip unlike any other that OSC has offered.
Itinerary:
March 10: Depart Omaha at 6 a.m. and arrive in Belize City at 11:21 a.m. We will be taken to the Orchid Garden Eco-Village in time to explore, relax and get ready for dinner.
March 11: ATM Underground Expedition to Crystal Madam Cave or Culture Population Centers tour.
March 12: New River Wildlife Cruise and Lamanai Maya Ruin Tour.
March 13: Cave Tubing and Jungle Zip Lines, then transfer to tour Belize City. We go by water taxi to San Pedro and the Mayan Princess Hotel for two more nights on the beach.
March 14: Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley snorkel (second only in size to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia).
March 15: Leave Belize City at 4:45 p.m. and arrive in Omaha at 11:30 p.m.
Included in the price are eight meals at the Orchid Garden and two breakfasts at the Mayan Princess. Many local restaurants are close to the hotel and are reasonable in price. Alternate tours are available that are less strenuous or some can be eliminated and a credit will be allowed.
The trip costs $695.20 ($869 less 20 percent) plus airfare. Airfare quotes are coming in and airfare now is $679.45 (including $342.45 taxes and fees included) per person. That makes total trip cost at $1,374.65. The airfare cost may be adjusted by changes in fuel charges, taxes and other fees that are out of our control.
Payment for the Belize trip can be made by paying 30 percent of the trip ($210) by credit card to the hotel to reserve space and $100 to the airline to reserve the airfare. Balance needs to be paid early February 2011. At this time, I have space for only 20 people. Airfare cost and availability is not guaranteed until a deposit is received.
