OSC - Happy Hour

Omaha Sports Club Happy Hours are a great way to unwind on a Friday night. Scheduled twice monthly, OSC members gather after work at a local establishment for food, drink and fun.  Look for Happy Hour info updates in our regular "Whats Happening" emails.

Please drink responsibly and be a generous tipper!

Since taking over Happy Hour, I have based all of our Happy Hour visits on suggestions from Marnie, Tracy, Judi, Steve, Bob, Randy and Dave (and others). They all have given me suggestions for where to go (haha).

If you are a new member and you want to visit our Happy Hour but haven't because you don't know anyone, please come join us. I will introduce you to everyone I know. ... This month we head east to South Omaha and then later back west to Ralston.

Recently, Phil and I looked into running a pub crawl. We both thought it would be fun to visit all the old-time bars on Leavenworth Street. We looked hard at the bars that would be worth stopping at and even had a route set up. We called around for prices for a bus and concluded that party bus prices are too unrealistic and we decided not to do anything. If anyone knows of a party bus that's affordable, please let me know!

In April, we'll have three (3) Happy Hours. On April 1 (the 1st Friday), we head out to Blueberry Hill, 82nd Avenue and West Center Road, southeast corner. This historically is one of the hottest Omaha Sports Club watering holes, with some great retro prices: .50 domestic draws, $2 domestic pitchers and free wings and appetizers from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ... It's a great way to start off the month of April.

On April 15 (3rd Friday), we head east to South Omaha to Beer City, 4147 L St. (42nd & L). This is a great neighborhood bar with the "coldest beer in Omaha:" $2.50 (12 oz.) & $3 (16 oz.) draws, $2 (16 oz.) Keystone cans, $3 (24 oz.) Busch cans, $2 Schnapps, and free peanuts and popcorn. It's only a 14-minute drive (Google maps) for the bowlers and it starts at 4:30 p.m.

On April 29 (5th Friday), we head to Ralston to Kennedy's Irish Pub, 5170 S. 72nd St. (72nd & Q streets) for $2 domestic draws, $3 craft draws and $3 UV-bombs. According to my calculations, bowling season is supposed to be finished (but it's a 10-minute drive if you were wondering) and it starts at 4:30 p.m.

Thanks for the great response on my "Be-a-Happy-Hour-Host" request last month. Several people stepped forward, but there's room for more (if we do something twice a month). So I must repeat: Golf season is fast approaching and that means I'll be at the golf course on Friday nights beginning in May (not at Happy Hour) but I want to continue my bi-weekly happy hour tradition. If you would like to "host a happy hour" on a one-time basis, this is your chance. If you have a "favorite bar" or a "fun bar" that you've always wanted the Sports Club to visit, please contact me and set a date. (You get to pick the bar).
