As the end of our fiscal year approaches and we begin to think about attending the Annual Affair and voting for officers for 2009-2010, I would like to encourage everyone to give some thought to giving back to your club by volunteering to help an existing board member with their sport or activity. Since volunteers operate all activities in the club, we depend on you to help keep your favorite sport or activity running.
Many years ago, Sam Spicka, a dear friend of many in the club and one who always went “above and beyond” to help in any way he could, gave me a copy of a list entitled How to Kill an Organization in 14 Easy Steps. As I was rereading that list, it became clear to me again how many of these steps apply to the Omaha Sports Club. If all our members offered just a few minutes of their time each month, our club would be capable of truly amazing things! Please let me know if you are willing to help keep the Omaha Sports Club the great club it is.
