Shake off the winter blahs by getting together with your friends from the Omaha Sports Club at the 2011 Chili and Soup Cook-off .
This year’s event will be from 5:30 p.m. to midnight on February 19 at the American Legion Post, 7811 Davenport St.
Bring your favorite chili or soup to share. We will have prizes for the best chili and soup.
The chili and soup sampling begins at 5:30 p.m. Dance lessons are scheduled at 7 p.m. followed with dancing at 8 p.m. to the Old Dog New Trix band, a band new to the local music scene.
If dancing isn’t your thing or you need a few drinks before you cut the rug, try your luck at Texas hold ‘em poker. Susan Bertrand and Brad McGill willl host the poker game and give lessons to newbies.
Admission is free for those who bring chili or soup; otherwise, admission costs $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Both food and drink prices are cheap.
