Join us at the Keystone trail parking lot, just north of Harrison Street on 60th Street, for a leisurely spring bike ride. We can ride north or south on the trail, depending on the wind direction. Trust me, you want the wind at your back on the RETURN trip.
We ride at a casual pace, and the terrain is very flat. This is a great for beginning riders. It is always a good time, and a great way to establish new friends. We will try to find some new paths to ride this year. We may have to travel some short distances to find new trails, but it will be well worth our time.
There is a great ride every Thursday night on the Wabash-Trace trail in Iowa. It is the Mineola taco night ride. This is a weekly event, and is well attended by the entire cycling community. A lot of Sports Club riders do this ride. Start any time (usually from 4:00 p.m. - on) and ride your own pace to Mineola, about 9 miles. It’s a very scenic trail.
To get there: Take I-29 South and take exit 47 ( Hwy 92 ). Drive east to first light (Harry Langdon Blvd) and turn right. Go about a half mile and you will see the trail head lot on your right.
Hiking
At this time, no hikes are being planned. If enough interest is shown, we will plan some hiking trips. If anyone is interested in running a hiking event, please contact me at bikehike@omahasportsclub.com and I will be more than happy to give all the support I can.
