Bowling

Omaha Sports Club offers bowling on Friday nights. Teams consist of eight to 10 bowlers. Five bowlers bowl each week, which allows participants regular nights off. Bowling is "pay per play" - pay $12 only on the nights you bowl. Lanes are turned on for practice at 6:15 p.m. and bowling starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. Bowling should end no later than 9:45 p.m.

If you are interested in bowling with the Omaha Sports Club, please contact Darlene Zauss or send an e-mail to bowling@omahasportsclub.com.

The bowling season begins on September 4 at Western Bowl. So let's get ready to play!

Team rosters are in, and the new software has been downloaded and updated with the rosters and league schedule/lane assignments. A copy of the lane assignments can be obtained by clicking here.

The lanes are turned on for practice at 6:30 p.m., with competition beginning at 6:45, and completed by 10 p.m. Please try to arrive early to take care of first night paperwork, and remember that separate checks need to be written for the separate costs.

Bowling costs $12 per player per night bowled (checks made payable to "Western Bowl"), so each team should have $60 in their envelope. John Weyant will once again be our treasurer, so make sure your envelopes get to John by the fifth frame.

The USBC Sanction remains at $18 (checks made payable to GOABA). And, more importantly,  your Sports Club 2009-2010 membership needs to be current. Renewals need to be completed by September 25. New members need to have either mailed their membership form in already, or be prepared to complete their membership and payment on the first night they bowl (checks made payable to "OSC").

Finally, to ensure that we complete bowling by 10 p.m. please remember a few rules of etiquette:

  • Be prepared to bowl when your name is highlighted to bowl.  Do not wait for your counterpart on the opposing team to also have their name highlighted as this can slow play.
  • Exercise "right of way" courtesy when two bowlers approach adjoining lanes at the same time.
  • Stay off the approach when another individual is on the approach and bowling to your right or left.

For those of you who have acquired a taste, Joe said he is not selling Bud Lite Lime - the inventory is for him!  See you soon!
