League officers for the bowling 2010-2011 season will return with Chris Bochnicek, president; Lois Dorn, vice president; John Weyant, treasurer; and Pat Martinson, secretary.
Although Western Bowl raised the cost of bowling slightly, the cost per bowler will remain at $12 per night. This will decrease the available prize fund from .65 per win to about .615 per win ... still enough payout for the teams to have a good party or distribute the wealth.
Next season will kick off on August 27 and end on April 15, 2010. We will not bowl on September 10 (the Annual Affair), November 26 (the day after Thanksgiving), December 24 (Christmas Eve) and December 31 (New Year's Eve). We will bowl the Friday of Labor Day weekend, but we have bowled that night in the past.
The major change is our new start time. We have tried for a couple of years to complete bowling by 10 p.m., but haven't been able to reach that goal on many nights. So for the 2010-2011 season, the lanes will be turned on for practice at 6:15 p.m. and bowling will begin at 6:30 p.m. This should ensure that bowling is completed by 9:45 p.m.
A few teams need bowlers for next year, so we are looking for women, men or couples to join the league. You do not have to be a great bowler since our league has a 90 percent handicap. Contact bowling@omahasportsclub.com if you are interested in joining the league.
