Final Week
Bowling

Omaha Sports Club offers bowling on Friday nights. Teams consist of eight to 10 bowlers. Five bowlers bowl each week, which allows participants regular nights off. Bowling is "pay per play" - pay $12 only on the nights you bowl. Lanes are turned on for practice at 6:15 p.m. and bowling starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. Bowling should end no later than 9:45 p.m.

If you are interested in bowling with the Omaha Sports Club, please contact Darlene Zauss or send an e-mail to bowling@omahasportsclub.com.

Bowling News

It was a pretty good year. We had no snow days, which is always a good thing in Nebraska. We had some new faces and even some old faces return, or maybe I should say former bowlers. Rick and Cindy probably don't want to be called old!

I was not there the last night but would have loved to have been. The top two teams were close enough in points to have switched positions. Five-25 would have forced a roll-off but John Weyant told me that after the first game Odds & Ends had wrapped it up so they decided to drink beer. The score was 9-21.

The league results can be seen in the Final Standings 2011. I thanked John for the extra bit of money for my team. Fund distributions are in the Financial Report.

USBC and local awards were increased this year, so a number of bowlers received recognition for their bowling.

We said goodbye about mid-season to Doug Wendt as he took a job in San Francisco. He had been bowling since our days at the Sky Lanes, so he had been with us a long time. He did return to bowl with the guys/gal at state in Kearney.

Thanks to John Weyant for collecting and depositing the money all season and to Darlene Zauss for posting the weeklly standings, writing articles and attending the board meetings as our bowling chair.

I hope all teams plan to come back next year. There will be NO INCREASE in the amount charged by Western Bowl for the lanes, but Joe said that he cannot do anything about the cost of beer - bummer.

I am always on the lookout for bowlers, so if you have considered bowling contact us at bowling@omahasportsclub.com.  I will be contacting the teams about mid-June to check status, so be prepared.

See you on the golf course!

Pat Martinson
