And finally, this is our final golf event of 2010… which we call “Sweater Day." This year we played at Shoreline Golf Course (in Carter Lake), it was held on 10-10-10 (October 10th).
Shoreline GC expanded the size of their clubhouse and those that play “league” there often suggest that we play a scramble event there sometime. Well we did.
First, let me thank Jimmy Graves (not Graver), Pat Martinson and Rita White for helping on Sunday. But someone mentioned that it was a wasted day, because the weather was so nice, none of us had the chance to wear sweaters… maybe next year. It was only one year ago, when we had to “postpone” our event because of seven inches of snow.
Flag winners at Shoreline GC were:
Hole #1 Longest Putt, Fred Longberg; Hole #2. Longest Drive (Men), Randy Smith;
Hole #3. Closest 2nd Shot, Dwight Peterson; Hole #4. Closest Tee Shot, Marnie Heider;
Hole #5. Longest Putt (Ladies), Pat Galvin; Hole #6. Closest 2nd shot (Men), Brad McGill;
Hole #7. Closest Tee shot, Fred Longberg; Hole #8. Longest Putt, Marilyn Chandler;
Hole #9. Closest 3rd shot, Candi Coe; Hole #10. Longest Drive (Ladies), Joyce Stoural;
Hole #11. Closest 2nd shot, Bob Swatek; Hole #12. Closest Tee shot (Men), Kyle Wilhelm;
Hole #13. Closest to the pin (across lake), Jeff Kurtz, Hole #14. Longest Putt, Zach McIntyre;
Hole #15. Closest 2nd shot, Joan Eckerson; Hole #16. Closest Tee Shot, Michele Stultz;
Hole #17. Closest 3rd shot (Men), Brad Coe ….and Hole #18. Longest Putt, Jimmy Graves.
The Golf Course was in charge of scoring this event, which means I didn't have to do any of the scoring (Yippee!). Shoreline asked how I wanted it flighted and I asked front or back nine and they said they could do either (so I had them decide). It was the front. What that means: The golf course determines the flight groups based on the scores on the front nine. (i.e. all the 32, 33, 34s in the first flight; all the 35, 36s in the second flight and all the 37, 38 and so on in the 3rd flight. Then each flight is ranked by the teams’ final score.)
1st Flight:
1st Place: Al Brown, Dave Hiatt, Ann Luther & Jan Soethout. (63)
2nd Place: Zach McIntyre, Kyle and Kevin Wilhelm & Jim DeMuelmeester. (64)
3rd Place: Larry Welch, Marian Wascher, Loren & Pat Galvin. (66)
2nd Flight:
1st Place: Jeff Kurtz, Dave Frances, Deaun Trayer & Sue Moskovits. (68)
2nd Place: Glen Schwanz, Dee Bigge, Brad & Candi Coe. (68)
3rd Place: Randy Smith, Marnie Heider, Jerry Boeckman & Joyce Stoural. (68)
3rd Flight:
1st Place: Mike Reece, Mary Wees, Mike & Darlene Miller. (74)
2nd Place: Jimmy Graves, JoAnn Rowedder, Wendy Cramer & Gene Hug. (74)
3rd Place: Scott Brown, Dave Fixemer, John Carlson & Jeff Coplin. (75)
We even gave cash to the team with the highest score… but they know who they were. After thinking about my comment about there not being a letter “i” in the word “suck” meant nothing because I forgot to add “I think there should be”… how embarrassing.
Thanks to all those that played in the golf scramble events this year, (trying to please everyone is difficult). I hope everyone had fun and returns next year.
