With many changes in the golf office downtown, I was worried what was going to change for me and our leagues. Were things going to change? Or were things going to be as before?
It seems the changes have been for the better. The golf rate changed at one Omaha golf course: Westwood (now $1 cheaper), but the rate at LaVista Falls went up. The “price per round” at the other golf courses (Sunset, Shoreline and Elmwood) have stayed the same.
Last year was the first year at Westwood GC for the Thursday league after giving LaVista Falls a try. I would say things went well. Their starting time has moved back to 5:15 p.m. The Spring Lake league moved into the LaVista Falls slot on Tuesday night. People often ask me which league is my favorite, because if I could play golf every night, I would, but they are all great leagues.
I decided not to have a golf sign up party this year, but rather a “driving range” party at one of the driving ranges. I hope we’ll have a mini-lesson for our group and some discounts for our league golfers. Look for this to happen in late April.
As before, you can join the Omaha Sports Club with a half-year membership rate for $15, that rate makes you a member March 1 through September 10 and does not include Sweater Day (if you like to play in our scramble events).
You have the freedom to pay for your league fees online, with one swipe of the card. It makes things a heck of a lot easier for me and probably you.
The deadline to join the 2011 golf leagues is Saturday, April 30.
