We had a very interesting fall tryout, thanks to all those that signed up and those that answered the call to play this session. Our tryout numbers were lower than we had seen them ever. The economy must have finally hit our club.
Our goal for the spring tryouts will be to bring our numbers back up. Most of our league managers and captains made multiple phone calls recruiting people to play. If these calls had not been made, we probably would have been forced to combine leagues. To help our leagues for the next session, please start telling everyone that you think would be interested in playing in the best volleyball leagues in Omaha. Your help is needed and appreciated.
Thanks to all those wonderful people that helped run this fall tryout: Christine Shank, Shawn Watkins, Christy Watkins, Joe Martinez, Carol Martinez Cyndee Kanabel, Mark Nelson, Kate Jones, Joe Wolf, Sarah Kelsey, Brandon Krivanek, Rose Yager, Kevin Wills, Ken Curran and Wayne Lewis.
Our mid season party will be November 11. The location will be chosen in the next few weeks depending on who can handle us and give us the best deals. We do have a contest going on: To the league that achieves 100 percent membership first, each team in that league will be given a pitcher of beer.
Our end of season party will be held November 23 at Johnny Sortino’s. We are looking for someone to help host this party. Contact the vb committee at
volleyball@omahasportsclub.comThis is a new season and we must remember to take care of our gyms and respect each other and our refs. Street shoes are not allowed on our courts and all trash must be disposed of properly.
