Volleyball

OSC volleyball strives to create a fun atmosphere where one can make new friends, enjoy old friends and have a great time playing volleyball year round. We have six coed leagues of different skill levels (AA, A, BB, B, B1, B2), three women's leagues (A, BB, B), and two men's leagues (A & B).

Fall and Spring coed league teams & mens league teams are compiled via a draft, while the women's leagues are team signups. The Summer session is coed only and is also team signup. All levels of players are able to play.

For more information about this exciting, competitive and socially active sport, please email

This year started off very positive for our coed volleyball leagues. We had a strong showing for this session. Many thanks go out to all of you for passing the word about our fine club and the fun volleyball leagues. What a great job everyone did!

We would like to welcome new members to the Omaha Sports Club. We encourage you to check out the other sports and the many activities that can be done. If you have any questions please write volleyball@omahasportsclub.com

This spring we had 306 people sign up for our leagues; unfortunately there was only space for 288. We had 234 people use the online signup, an awesome new tool for the club. We hope those numbers increase next fall, because we truely want to see the day when we can go paperless.

Our drafts would not happen if not for you and those people that volunteer their time to work sign up tables, take care of the gyms and find referees. The following people deserve a great big thank you: Cyndee Kanabel, Shawn Watkins, Christy Watkins, Rob Smith, Summer Hospodka, Brandon Krivanek, Carol Martinez, Joe Wolf, Kim Otto, Doug Daniel, Sarah Kelsey and Christine Shank.
With our winter weather, you never know when it may storm. Cancelations will be posted on the OSC web site as soon as possible, but no later than 2 p.m. that day. Please do not call or write the gyms or the gym coordinator. We also need to remember to take precautions when you walk into the gyms with wet shoes and do not ever wear street shoes onto the gym floors.
Let’s take care of our gyms and pick up our water bottles and trash before we leave. We need to keep the facilities clean and your help is greatly appreciated.
One thing that is very wonderful about our OSC volleyball leagues is the unique opportunity to meet new people and create friendships with those people. Don’t let this opportunity pass by. Go up to that person that you don’t know and say hi. Introduce yourself. It won’t hurt.
Our mid-season party will be February 15 at Finnegans Sports Bar. The end-of-season party will be March 22 at Johnny Sortino’s Pizza. Mark these dates on your calendar and remind your friends.
Your volleyball chairman is hosting something new to OSC. We are going to try out one location a month that is known for their hot wings. This month we are going to visit Oscar’s in West Omaha. See the article for more information. Hope you can make it.
Remember to be courteous to your fellow players. We have a zero tolerance on abusive language and assaults. Be careful -  we don’t want any accidents that would cause anyone to get hurt.
Have a great session!
