The Omaha Sports Club volleyball league has lost a long-time friend. Chris Martin, 30, passed away recently, leaving his wife Jennifer, two beautiful daughters, family and many friends.
Chris will not be forgotten. A benefit for the family of Chris Martin will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, at the Fort Crook Billiards Food and Spirits, 908 S. Fort Crook Road, Bellevue. Please take this opportunity to join Chris’ friends and family. All donations will be greatly appreciated.
The cover charge is $5. There will be a craft show, 50/50 pots, silent auction, hot dog bar and many other activities. The band Hidden Agenda will perform at 8 p.m. If you would like more information on this event, email chevelle311@cox.net. Please pass the word around and invite everyone you know to attend.
Our end-of-season party will be March 22 at Johnny Sortino’s Pizza parlor, 80th and L streets, starting at 8:30 p.m. and going until they kick us out. Each team will receive a large single topping pizza. We will take pictures of those attending and post them on our web site volleyball picture album. Come and plan on having a good time.
We will also have raffle tickets available for purchase to benefit the Chris Martin family fund-raiser. Click here for more information on how you can help this fund-raiser,
I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during the February 1 snow storm. Please remember that the volleyball committee will make any decision to cancel play by 3 p.m. the day of scheduled play. We ask that you not call the school or facility and inquire about their status. We are able to play sometimes even if the facility has canceled their normal activities for that day.
It is also appreciated greatly that you make sure to take care of our gyms and stay off the courts with wet street shoes and pick up all trash before you leave for the evening.
The summer session is right around the corner and the team sign up will be available only on line. With our desire to be as green as we can, we are eliminating the paper applications. Please sign up and pay for your team on line. Completed rosters are mandatory to help verify proper team placement. The team application will be available by signing in to the OSC web site and going to our store. If you have any questions please write volleyball@omahasportsclub.com.
Please be courteous players and remember we are all here for fun, so stay positive, stay safe and enjoy your club and its members.
