Volleyball

OSC volleyball strives to create a fun atmosphere where one can make new friends, enjoy old friends and have a great time playing volleyball year round. We have six coed leagues of different skill levels (AA, A, BB, B, B1, B2), three women's leagues (A, BB, B), and two men's leagues (A & B).

Fall and Spring coed league teams & mens league teams are compiled via a draft, while the women's leagues are team signups. The Summer session is coed only and is also team signup. All levels of players are able to play.

Hello fellow v-ballers! Here is your monthly update from the Co-Commish.

Since the last article, both the sand and indoor summer sessions have begun. Nine teams signed up for the first session of sand. While the season got off to a blustery start, the conditions have steadily improved. It’s never too early to start thinking about the next session, which will start June 16 and run nine weeks.

Registration is currently open. For the bargain price of $174 per team ($29 per person), you, too, can have nine weeks of fun in the sun at Winchester’s Bar & Grill (70th & Q).  If you don’t have a full team or any other players lined up, just contact me or my partner in crime, CJ Trader, and we’ll do our best to place you on a team or help you form one. We also have one open court this session. So, feel free to recruit a friend or two and come on down to play a pick up game or two and hang out with us.

The indoor season began on May 3 with four leagues and 33 teams participating. This wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of Summer Hospodka and Chris Shank for recruiting teams and players to fill rosters. They also found a new gym after learning we would be short two courts one week before we were scheduled to start. Three weeks into the season and so far all is going well.

Well, that’s all for now so if you have any questions, comments or ideas to improve the volleyball experience or you’re interested in helping, shoot us an e-mail or come see us at Winchester’s on Thursday evenings.
