Marian Pierce – Obituary
Marian Kay Pierce (Seemann), a devoted registered nurse whose extraordinary 56-year career touched countless lives, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 20, 1943, in Waterloo, Iowa, Marian was a graduate of the Allen Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She began her nursing journey in 1964 at the University of Iowa Hospital, dedicating much of her career to orthopedics, where her gentle, skilled care became a source of comfort and healing for countless individuals.
Marian's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and joy. While still a nursing student, she met her husband, Oliver, a patient recovering from a car accident. They married on August 22, 1965, at Jubilee Church near La Porte City, Iowa. In 1969, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska to start a family together. They raised two children, Amy and Eric, and cherished four grandchildren: David, Steven, Kai, and Kayla.
Marian found happiness in life’s simple pleasures – Bunco, golfing, tending her garden, curling up with a good book, and exploring new places with her friends and family while visiting nearly every state of the union.
Marian remained connected to her Iowa roots, having grown up in the communities of Waterloo and Jesup. She was a beloved sister to Grace, Donna, and Rachel, and a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her unwavering compassion, dedication, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Marian is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Oliver; her daughter, Amy Harvey; her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Minako Pierce; and her grandchildren, David, Steven, Kai, and Kayla. Her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
