2023 Softball Wrapup

Looking back, we had a very nice year for playing softball.  For starters we managed to get 5 teams playing in the fall and only had to deal with 1 rainout day all year – almost unbelievable.  Fall weather was great which allowed for a nice fall cookout party at the field attended by most players.

I have a lot of people to thank for helping make this season go so smooth.  Great coaches (Luke Scholl, Emily Whitaker, Nathan Novak, Gabe Lucero, and Shane Jensen) who all worked very hard making sure that every person driving to the field was assured to get to play a game.  Also, thanks to all the players who volunteered to sub when needed. Of course, this does not happen without the game scheduling being done by the UBA (Ultimate Baseball Academy).  With the additional support from Moe & Curly’s, the after-game celebrations along with the season end party that took place was a lot of fun for many.

Even though there were a few injuries during the season, most were healed up quickly and it was back to having a good time with some fun folks having more fun than being concerned about the win or lose.  Congratulations goes out to Luke for his great coaching taking his Green team to a first place position by season end with the other teams all being very close in the standings (showing the draft system really works).  Gabe Lucero also had a little extra enjoyment because he got to play fall softball for free after winning the recruitment contest.  We will have the recruitment contest again in the spring.  For every new person you get to sign up to play spring/summer softball, you will get one entry into the drawing for a chance to play for free.

Now with winter soon approaching, it won’t be long before we must start thinking about the spring signups for our 2024 softball season.  I hope to have signup information for our 2024 season on the website by year’s end or in early January so stay tuned to the website.  Now is the time to share with your friends how much fun you had playing OSC softball last season, and try to convince them to come and play softball with us on our teams.

Until next season starts or if you have any questions, please email me at mbmenke@cox.net to stay current with the latest softball news.  If you would like to be on the Softball Email List, please send me your email address and phone number and I will enter it into our Softball database.

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year.
